The Red Door

Don't you just love my front door?  I let out a little "awww" every time I get home.  Those gorgeous pots at the side are magnolias, and they had their first flower last week. It was a massive creamy flower bud with heady perfume that wafted into the house in the afternoon.

The house is post war and I like to think this is how it looked in the 1950s...Pa coming home from work in the afternoon and walking through that door to the smell of Ma's home cooked roast. "Awwwww"...where's my apron...

A Birthday High Tea

How's a princess to celebrate her birthday? A faabulous high tea along the river I say!  For my birthday recently I gathered all the besties for high tea at the divine Joseph Alexander's along the Brisbane River.

The restaurant is in a row of heritage terrace buildings and the dining room has gorgeous ornate high ceilings...it's like stepping back in time.

The stand was filled with scrumptious yummies of ribbon sandwiches, mini quiches, franjelico scones and cream and  danishes all served on Nana's floral crockery.

Oh, and fascinators were compulsory.   All the girls obliged.
