Camping...not glamping!

I went camping.
Ye-hah. You read right. Camping.
Not glamping.

We're talking on the beach, no tent, no BATHROOMS.

I kinda got a bit conned getting there with the pretence of "we'll go and watch the best movie ever outdoors". I was thinking the drive-in. Obviously he meant the stars.

It was absolutely divine. We toasted marshmallows over an open fire, on the sand under a gazillion stars with the waves crashing over the beach nearby. The smell of a crackling fire and the fresh ocean breeze was gorgeous and for the first time I understood why people love doing this.

We slept in a sleeping bag out in the open. There were no mozzies and while it was cold, the fire kept us warm all night. It was truly perfect.

In the morning the air was pristine and there was no one else for miles. In the morning light I could see how pure white the sand was with just smatterings of shells, seaweed and driftwood to break up a smooth canvas of sand that seemed to go on forever.

I loved it. I'll admit...I'm a convert.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Did I mention it was my birthday recently? Ahh how it feels to be 28 ;-P. Mum came down for it and we celebrated with the fabulous F's - Friends, family, flowers and FOOD!!

A stack of us went to Popolo Italian Kitchen & Bar which is fast becoming one of my favourite places with it's awesome share plates and gorgeous views of the Brisbane River.

With so many people it was hard to decide so we let the waiter decide EVERYTHING and he brought out the perfecto combo of vegetarian and meat and sides. Just the right amount do they do that?

Hmmmm.....first born. So proud.

Max Brennar for dessert...of course.

The perfect day...even if I did turn a year older.

What day is it?

Birthday Flowers

Mum and Dad's Visit

The Hoe-Down Party in the Garage

OK, according to my calendar, it's Thursday. In May. How the hell did THAT happen? The last three weeks have been a complete blur. We moved into the house, I had my birthday, my Mum, Stepdad and Dad all visited but arrived on separate flights. We had a MASSIVE party for 60 people at the new house, went to a christening, the company I work for went into administration and we've had to move office and I went camping.

Someone get me a drink!
