Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

Woohoo!! Won again at the annual race day - $84. My biggest. Win. Ever!! Thanks "Sea Red", I had a good feeling about you and you returned well on my $5 investment.

It was a stinking hot day to start with and a long sleeve polyester dress was probably not my smartest choice. The food and champagne flowed freely though and we caught up with people we hadn't seen for a while. All the ladies looked fab and the gentlemen looked dapper and by early afternoon a cool change came through and saved the day.

PS: I didn't have chicken for dinner…

The Cocos Islands!

I'm continually amazed at the beauty of the natural world. We've just come back from 10 incredible days in the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, in the Indian Ocean between Australia and Indonesia. It's a coral atoll with the whitest sandy beaches and pristine blue ocean waters I've ever seen.  The people were beautiful and island life was just chilled and relaxing.

We were there with Zepher Kite Tours and I finally gave kite surfing a go. My instructor Lucy was fantastic and very, very patient. I had daily lessons and by the end I had good kite control, could body drag upwind and managed a very basic board start. I'm calling success.

I couldn't really see why Jansen would need lessons, but turned out they taught him a stack of new "tricks". The wind was up consistently every single day so he was in heaven in heaven.

We did a heap of other things as well like stand up paddle boarding, bike riding, fishing and camping. I LOVED stand up paddle boarding to the point where I'm thinking of getting a board myself.

We also played golf with the locals. The Cocos Islands is the ONLY place in the world where you can place golf across the international runway. Half the town turns out each Thursday to play with the visitors and then spend the rest of the arvo drinking at the club.

These cute little hermit crabs were everywhere. We put our names on their shells and hoped we would see them again during our trip.  Maybe we'll see him when we come back to the islands again.

Snowboarding!

We went skiing!! Well, snowboarding. It was amazing! We chose Niseko and the snow was incredible for February and everything was picture perfect. The powder was fresh every morning and was like a dream to lay on and make snow angels!

We didn't just snowboard though, we found some fabulously authentic ramen bars, had the most incredible degustation at Kamimura, a michelin star restaurant and warmed up in some pretty awesome bars. I managed to fracture my tailbone, but that aside, we had an awesome time with awesome friends.

Tokyo!

From the Tsukiji Fish Markets

We've been to Japan!! I've been wanting to experience Japan for years so when our friends Paul and Michelle also said they've also wanted to go it was a done deal.

This country is amazing! We had so much fun. Tokyo was incredible, but we only had 3 days there so we definitely want to go back. The food was so fresh and everything was beautifully presented with such pride, even the street food. Surprisingly cheap as well, cheaper than Australia.

Tsujita!

Tokyo was such a disparity of ancient history and the super modern world seemingly happy to co-exist.  I loved the hustle and bustle of modern Tokyo, but just completely in love with their ancient temples and incredible history.

Tokyo Electronics Town

Tokyo Subway

We spent hours just wandering around, no plans, just happening upon amazing places and amazing experiences. Wish we had more time here, it went so quickly. We're already planning our trip back.

Bella's Home

We finally built our fence so, after almost 3 years, our dog Bella can come home. She's a whippet and this year she will be 11. Bella is Josh's dog and he's had her since he was 5 and she was just 3 months old. She's grown up with him.

She is one happy dog to be home. She has a mega big backyard to run around in, someone is home every day and she's allowed to come upstairs now as long as she stays on her mat.

She stands at the gate as we're leaving and she's sitting on the front porch waiting for us when we get home.

She's a pretty special dog. We're very lucky and very grateful.

Anniversary Dinner

Anniversary dinner at our favourite "special" place - Sake. I had the tofu experience and the creme brûlée. Perfect dinner to round off a really lovely 2 years. Happy anniversary J.
