The Cocos Islands!

I'm continually amazed at the beauty of the natural world. We've just come back from 10 incredible days in the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, in the Indian Ocean between Australia and Indonesia. It's a coral atoll with the whitest sandy beaches and pristine blue ocean waters I've ever seen.  The people were beautiful and island life was just chilled and relaxing.

We were there with Zepher Kite Tours and I finally gave kite surfing a go. My instructor Lucy was fantastic and very, very patient. I had daily lessons and by the end I had good kite control, could body drag upwind and managed a very basic board start. I'm calling success.

I couldn't really see why Jansen would need lessons, but turned out they taught him a stack of new "tricks". The wind was up consistently every single day so he was in heaven in heaven.

We did a heap of other things as well like stand up paddle boarding, bike riding, fishing and camping. I LOVED stand up paddle boarding to the point where I'm thinking of getting a board myself.

We also played golf with the locals. The Cocos Islands is the ONLY place in the world where you can place golf across the international runway. Half the town turns out each Thursday to play with the visitors and then spend the rest of the arvo drinking at the club.

These cute little hermit crabs were everywhere. We put our names on their shells and hoped we would see them again during our trip.  Maybe we'll see him when we come back to the islands again.
